Birthday Blessings

I guess as I get older, my birthdays become more mellow.  Somewhere down deep a party animal exists...just right now, I don't have the energy to show it.

Besides the usual laundry and cleaning up after two kids (yes, the wee one and the BIG kid in our home), we did bring some holiday cheer into the day.  After church this evening (which was more crowded than normal with many church-goers celebrating the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe), Jon and Kristina surprised me with birthday-cake flavored ice cream (yep, ice cream only -- don't need oodles of leftover cake tempting me!).  And Kristina serenading me with her tender voice was definitely a gift.

Blessed with wonderful birthday gifts -- especially my husband and daughter, and missing my family!

Since it was now dark, I thought it would be a great opportunity to go to a local neighborhood that really goes above and beyond with Christmas lights and decorations.  It's called Candy Cane Lane and Candlelight Lane.  Kristina LOVES the lights so we donned her pj's and hopped into the car for the 10-minute ride.  Well, our little angel lasted about 6 minutes and wha-la....fast asleep.  She didn't even get to enjoy one lighted snowman or oversize Santa waving hello.

Sound asleep...looks like we'll have to visit Candy Cane Lane and Candlelight Lane again!

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming of cleaning the house, writing out Christmas cards, making room for a Christmas tree, finding room for lots of little girl clutter toys, etc....
