We have officially felt the first blips and challenges of adopting from Russia and Yekaterinburg. Yesterday, just 4 days before catching our flight to Russia, we get that dreaded e-mail from our agency:Please call me when you can. We have to postpone your trip for 1 month because the Inspector left early for vacation. She was not scheduled to leave for vacation until 8/22, but left 2 weeks early. She will return on 9/21 and Olga wants to have you there that week for your first trip. We should have a revised travel schedule for you very soon. I am so sorry to be the bearer of this disappointing news.
It wouldn't be too bad except our VISAs were issued yesterday morning ($600 down the tubes!) and now I'm in the midst of trying to cancel our last-minute expensive flights. It's frustrating but others who have lived through it have enlightened us about what possibly could happen and to "be prepared". Mentally I am (I think!) but emotionally, that will take some time. I just look at K's picture, tell her to hang in there, and say a prayer. If this is the worst of things, then it's not so bad...
