The good news is that we have been given dates for Trip #1 to Ekat so we can meet K for the first time. Our agency said that we should arrive in Ekat Tuesday, August 19th, go to the DOE(Department of Education) and the orphanage on the 20th, see K again on the 21st, and 22nd and leave on the 23rd. However, when we realized we could save $1500 pp on airline tix by staying in Ekat one more night, we jumped at the chance! Tonight I spent 2.5 hours checking airfares (with mom on the phone also doing checks) and finally ticketed a flight to Ekat (via London) on 8/17. Never before have I ever paid so much for airline tickets and *not* expect warm cloths, sterling silverware, and a seat that doesn't recline into a bed. Instead -- we're booked on 22+ hour flights to Russia knowing very well that we will get to know our travel companions better than we'd like to! But hey, it will be worth it to meet our little one.Wednesday, August 6, 2008
