It's Official!

On Friday, June 12, 2009, as we prepared for our first family vacation, a large manilla envelope arrived in the mail for Kristina. Yeah ~ it's the proof from Homeland Security that we awaited...Kristina's Certificate of Citizenship!

There has been a lot of concern about Kristina being able to get on the Caribbean cruise next week and not having "proof" of US Citizenship. This concern was even brought to the attention of the ship's Captain who has already reviewed her adoption p/w and Russian Passport with the IR-3 Immigration VISA. Now....no problem, mahn, we're off to the islands, mahn!!!

I hope you have a wonderful vacation!!! We just returned from Jamaica and learned the hard way that you must have the "original" Certificate of Citizenship there. They would NOT accept a copy of it. In fact, we got held up in Customs and they took her Russian passport. American Airlines was wonderful in assisting us, but we had to FedEx the original document to the Montego Bay Airport or they were not going to let us board to go home. It all worked out and we got the original COC and her passport back. Whew!

I sure hope your cruise goes much more smoothly!
