It was almost 27 years ago when JD and I went out on our "first date." Yep -- met in high school and have been together ever since.....
Last night, we had the opportunity of going on our "first date" since becoming parents. We dropped Kristina off at Grandma and Grandpa D's house in the afternoon (no crying...and I think it took her awhile before she noticed we were gone...) and headed down to Laguna Beach for the Pageant of the Masters show. We've been attending the Pageant every year since 1983 and I think we've only missed one or two shows...
Packed and ready to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house...
...of course, with "baby" in tow!
We had a great dinner at The Cottage Restaurant (our usual stop) before taking a leisurely stroll to the Pageant. We talked about our trip to Laguna last year knowing that our life was about to change dramatically. Well, it has but it was so nice spending some quality time with the love of my life.
We only called once to see how she was doing...not too bad, eh?
Stay tuned. We took lots of pictures the last two weeks. I just have to try and find time to upload them between work, playing with Kristina, chasing after her, and cleaning up the messes that Hurricane Kristina leaves behind!

The Pageant of the Masters? What's that like? I'm happy to hear you had a date! We finally had one for my birthday in May after coming home in Feb. I've realized just how important spending time together, just the two of us, is. We need it! THankfully Colby loves spending time at both Grandparents' house.
Laura,
Thank you so much for your words of support. It has been a difficult time here. I don't handle change really well. But I am loving being home with Colby. I just miss the companionship and adult conversation, and I even miss teaching "my kids". We'll see what the future holds. Thanks again!

I love the suitcase ... where did you get it??? She looks very excited to be going to Grandma and Grandpa's but I imagine they were exhausted if she was still awake at midnight!!!
Christine
i am w/ christine - where did you get that suitcase -- it is ADORABLE! you know what I love besides sweet little K? how much you just GLOW about your husband -- it is really really sweet, refreshing, and so not the way much of the world thinks -- i've always been one to say that people need to be more outwardly appreciative of their partners, and am so bummed when i hear people complain all the time about their partners -- it is so fun to read not just about sweet little K and her adventures, but to watch you and Jon continue to just love life together!!! you rock!
Sounds like they spoiled her like they are supposed to! That little suitcase is just precious! and so is that little girl!!!
Glad you got an evening out! That is so important.
Oh, you and Jon are too sweet - I love it! and little miss Kristina looks soooo happy in the picture, it made me cry. I'm so happy for you three.
