With Kristina's birthday rapidly approaching, I knew I had to do something at school to celebrate this special day. After all, I don't know if they even celebrated the children's birthday's in the orphanage.
Grammy and Poppy arrived from FL on Wednesday so on Thursday, Grammy made mini-cupcakes and Kristina LOVED decorating them with sprinkles.
Kristina took her job as "Sprinkler" very serious.
When the job was complete, the task was capped off with a kiss from Grammy and a sneak fingerful of leftover icing...
Then on Friday, January 8th, Grammy and Poppy joined me at 2:45pm to bring over cupcakes, juice and, of course, party bags for all the kiddles in Kristina's class. When we arrived, they were all sitting around the tables like good boys and girls (how do they do it??? I have enough trouble doing it with one child nonetheless 12+ kids!).
The cupcakes were placed in front of Kristina and then everyone sang "Happy Birthday." Meanwhile, our little angel, who normally is the one dancing around the room, became the shy one and clammed up....until it came time to eat the cupcakes.
Everybody singing "Happy Birthday" to Kristina.
Kristina couldn't wait to dig into her cupcake, appropriately the one with the letter "K" on it.
As the teachers distributed the cupcakes to all the kids, I suddenly noticed that they were wiping all the icing and sprinkles off the cupcakes!!! What the??? I asked and they said "oh, just in case some kids have allergies." Yeah -- right. I had already asked about allergies. I know in my heart that they just didn't want the kids having sugar. What party poopers.
Juice and cupcakes...man, America is cool!
Poppy enjoying every minute with his angel.
Oh, well - the kids enjoyed the cupcakes and Operation Cupcake-Mom complete (with much appeciation to Grammy for helping out).

Love it! The pictures are great! Happy Birthday Kristina! The cupcakes looked yummy!
It is so very cool to see you experiencing the joys of being a mom. All the things you thought about over the years like bringing cupcakes to school are now coming true. It couldn't be happening to a more deserving lady.
Kristina is absolutely adorable, and she seems like she's adjusted completely. In fact, it looks like she was meant to be here, with you, with her grandparents. It really is like God handpicked her for you and JD.
I know you enjoy each and every day with your angel. Hugs to you both.
Happy Birthday Kristina ... I'm sure she had a great time with her classmates!!
I wondered too, if they celebrated the children's birthdays at baby home #6... I know Roman loves to sing "pappy birthday" these days but I think that's from his birthday and the birthdays at school!!!

Had to post on behalf of my dear friend, Lisa:

Thanks for sharing! What great pictures of Kristina with your Mom and Dad. It was great to see them! Incidentally, I'm making 60 cupcakes for Sarah to take in for all three high school basketball teams to have before their game tomorrow. See, the cupcake thing never changes. . . . and I guarantee they won't be wiping the frosting off their cupcakes!!! :o)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KRISTINA!!!!
Love ~ Uncle Mike and Aunt Lisa

...and I think the day care workers need to lighten up a bit... the sugar content of one mini cupcake is not going to do any harm!
Happy birthday Kristina. I've been busy these days too preparing for Valerias 2nd birthday on the
25th. Looks like you had lots of fun.
