This morning was like every other morning...I woke up early for work at 5:30am, got ready and then woke up Kristina for school. But whoa....our bright-eyed little girl was not so bright-eyed. Instead, she looked like she had a fun-filled evening of partying!
Her encrusted eyes were so bloodshot that it was apparent...she has pink-eye! I made a few phone calls and text messages to my work and supervisors letting them know I couldn't come in only to find Kristina already back asleep in her bed moments later.

| Back to bed for 3+ more hours... |
I finally woke her up at 10am (still has the Cassidy-Deary genes in her no matter what genetics tell us...) and we had a wonderful morning filled with breakfast chatter and SpongeBob entertainment. I called the pediatrician's office who prescribed eye drops.
Soon after, we met daddy for a quick lunch break and then headed to Costco to get the medicine. In Kristina's mind, Costco and churros are synonymous. She was such a good girl all day and in the store that I couldn't resist.

| Ready for "girls day out"...meet daddy for lunch and get some medicine. |
 |
| We always stop to smell the flowers...and watch the birds play on the lawn. Life is too short not to. |
 |
| "Yeah, hi Daddy. You working? We're going to Costco. And you?" Her conversations on her (deactivated) cell phone are hysterical...so grown up! |
 |
| The Costco churros are almost as big as Kristina...but then again, it *is* COSTCO! |
 |
| "Hey, this 'pink-eye' gig ain't so bad!" |
Since the first 24 hours after starting the meds are the most contagious, we're staying home together tomorrow as well. Now I'm just hoping that my itchy, tired eyes are simply sympathy pains.... *sigh*

I always love seeing picture os Kristina. She is such a girlie-girl! Hopefully no pink-eye for you, Laura!
this kid looks cute even in a costco pic! lol I hope you home is pink-eye free very soon. :)
Oh! I hope you don't have pink eye, too. And I hope that Kristina's eyes are all better soon.
Hello Laura - thanks for the reminder that we need to smell the flowers once in awhile. I've been guilty lately with being too busy. I'm letting my job of supporting us interfer with the most important job of being a mommy. Being a single mom has been challenging, but I know I need to stop and smell the flowers with my little miracles more often.
I am so glad that that you had such a wonderful day -- there really is nothing like the "unexpected joys" that our children offer us (if even through the vice of getting pink eye to stay home with you!! :)... she is really a sweet little gal!! full of life and zest and all things sweet! hope your & Jon's eyes were OK!

Feel better soon! =)
The dreaded pink eye! At least she got a churro! I wish we had a costco where I live.
