God, Grant me the Serenity....

Our most honorable judge has requested that our recent documents be "redone" by our parent agency in North Carolina. She did not like that the apostilles (official document that "notarizes the notary" and attached to each document obtained from the various different banks, companies, etc.) were actually glued to the top of each page making it difficult for her to lift the page. She has now requested that the paperwork be redone and resubmitted next week, at which time our agency hopes she issues a court date. Last month, this method didn't bother her enough to have it redone with another family's paperwork -- but this month, it bothers her!

I have to laugh --- otherwise, I'd cry.

I did ask our agency how much lead time we'll have from the time we receive a court date and the time we need to leave for Ekaterinburg. She said the judge usually sets the court date 2 weeks out (which means we'd have to leave in about 1 1/2 weeks) but she has had a family in Ekaterinburg who was given a court date within a week --- which means they had to leave asap (nothing like getting VISAs and airlines tickets STAT!).

We're going to continue moving forward and packing as if we are leaving in a few weeks -- perhaps the luck of the Irish will shine upon us and St. Patty's Day will bring us good news about our paperwork and court date!

It is amazing what the judges ask for. They really are tempermental about some things and just picky about others. We have to keep laughing, otherwise we will never make it through. I am hoping for a quick court date for you. We had exactly 2 weeks from our email to leaving. It is quite a hectic time.
My thoughts are with you.

I hope you have the luck of the IRISH. I am waiting for my first trip, they tell me I should have a referral the end of March/beginning of April. Maybe we will see each other in Russia. Beth

UGH! Any insight into why the frequent requests to redo things? Are they just testing to see how many hoops you're willing to jump through?

I guess the "good thing" is at least the judge has looked at your file and it is not buried on the bottom of her desk.

Good luck!

Laura - take comfort that your papers have at least made their way to the judge. I don't understand what having your papers glued at the top rather than stapled has ANYTHING to do with parenting a child. But I guess we should have learned by now that we can't understand a lot of the adoption process. How exciting for you guys though to know that you are so very close!

what is with that judge? are they against international adoption and finding anyway to make it not happen? how frustrating! i'm going to keep my fingers crossed that you will have a lucky st. patty's day! hang in there. at least the judge looked at them?

Hang in there...your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is waiting patiently for you. Deep breaths...laughing is good. Great things come to those who wait and K is worth every piece of paper...you can do it! You will all be together SOON. Keep imagining K running around with her peers at the Russian dinner!!! Love, D

God Bless You! You have an inspiring patience that made me realize that I've been thru nothing compared to other people. I'll pray for a speedy court date.

You are so patient and positive!! That is how you are which is why K is so lucky to have you as her mommy. I'm pissed and will say it for you!! What the heck is the big deal. Seems they'd be more concerned about getting these little precious children in the hands of their loving parents instead of worrying about something as petty as this. I don't understand, but I'm so glad you are taking it like the true angel you have shown to be. Once she is in your arms, all this will be such a distant memory. Hang in there. Hugs to you and JD!!

Oh wow. It really is crazy how judges can do this. I would have to laugh as well. Very frustrating but you will get it done.
