First PPR Complete!

Back in April when in an Ekaterinburg court, we stood in front of a judge and committed ourselves to providing the Russian courts with 4 post-placement reports: 1 at 6 months, 1 at 1 year, 1 at 2 years and 1 at 3 years after being declared Kristina's parents. We spent the night previous practicing the pronunciation of the District's name so it would just roll off our tongues. It seems like yesterday when I stood up in court and pronounced "Sverdlovsk Region for Ordzhonikidzevsky District of the city of Ekaterinburg” spot-on...and then took a sigh of relief.

Fast forward - September. I was surprised last week when the social worker e-mailed me and said we really couldn't go past October 5 or else we'd risk being late with our report. I was expecting to have more time since we haven't even been home 5 months. BUT...since court was almost 6 months ago (April 29), they must be going by that date. Plus the report needs to be written up, notarized, apostilled, sent to Russia and translated prior to being sent to the Court.

Our social worker arrived at 4pm today. For one of the first times, Kristina actually acted "shy" -- initially. But it didn't take long and then the 2-year old took over. It was casual as we all sat in the livingroom talking but since Kristina wasn't the center of attention, she started getting loud, running all over, throwing things -- doing anything to get the attention. Between chasing after Kristina and talking to her about using her "inside voice", we discussed primarily Kristina's development, attachment, speech, eating habits, doctors' appointments, test results, and current height/weight.

After 2 hours, we passed! We weren't concerned...but still, to have someone come into our home to check up on how we're doing? I'm fine with it. Just part of the process. Plus, it gives us two hours of bragging about our little girl....and the person is getting paid to listen...so she has to!!

Kristina moments before the Social Worker (Theresa) came over. Just enough time to down a "Gogurt" ~ her fave!

I was surprised when we did our report too. It seemed like we had just gotten home! Now we're working on 8 months this month! Wow! And Kristina just looks cuter and cuter everyday!

I can't believe how fast the time goes! It must be really great for social workers to be able to participate in the happy side of things - like wonderful families filing post-placement reports.

I love that picture of Kristina - she has changed so much since the early pictures you've shared.

yahoo! it is crazy to think "has it already been 6 months?" and yet, at the same time think "hasn't she been with us forever?" (ok, so just under 6 months, but you know what i mean) -- she is adorable and those cheeks just keep screaming for pinches.. her smile has lots of fun hidden behind it, and you can tell her eyes and mind are thinking "go-gurt now but what is next?".... totally cute!! :)
ps: i am impressed and super glad we adopted from a region easier to say. i think i would have foibled the adoption if i had to say that!! :)
