Growing up too fast...

I'm sure mom and dad have been checking our blog daily wondering "What's going on? No updates?" Yes, I've been slacking. It's certainly not because I've been catching up on sleep, cooking up some gourmet meals, sewing cute outfits for Kristina, or getting engrossed in a "can't-put-it-down" page-turner.

Instead, I'm just trying to be a mom, wife, homemaker, accountant, housekeeper (yeah, JD would laugh at this one...), friend, co-worker, chauffer, etc. I still have a lot to learn about budgeting time ~ I've always worked best under pressure. But this parenting gig is a work in process. Although it is the most challenging and exhausting job I have ever had, it is by far the most rewarding. No doubt!

Day by day, I see Kristina morphing into a little girl and leaving the toddler stage in the dust. There are days I just want time to STOP --- I want her to stay at this age as it is such a precious time of discovery. Kristina is now at a stage where she says "When I'm big, I'll wear make-up", "When I'm big, I'll have a car like daddy's", "When I'm big, I'll have boobies like Mommy." Ok, too much information...but you get the gist.

The other day, I was putting snacks in Kristina's lunch bag before school and I noticed it was quiet. Too quiet. I called out for Kristina to come NOW and she replied "Ok, mooooooom." Yes, two days ago she started calling me "mom". She came out from the bathroom and she had done her hair in hairbands. I was floored. I looked all over for the camera and couldn't find it. When I said, "Darn, I can't find the camera!", Kristina replied "Your phone, mommy." What would I do without my own personal assistant?

I put in the green hairband (center/back), and Kristina added one on each side by her ears as well as the hairband below the green one!

A hairstylist in the making!

When going into school, Kristina loves to play "mommy" and always straps in her doggy, Buddy, and her cat, Mr. Jumbles...

...and never leaves them without first giving them lots of hugs and kisses.

Kristina's first horse ride! All was great for this equestrian rider in-the-making...at least for the first 3 minutes....

...then daddy had to step in to save our damsel in distress!

We capped off an evening at our local Farmer's Market with some entertainment, compliments of Kristina (and her friend doing a dance similar to the "Elaine Dance" from Seinfeld. ~~ Come on ... some of you have to remember that dance!!!). Kristina shows us how to shake her boot-tay!

They definitely are growing up way too fast. I'm also Mom. Ugh! I miss being Mama! And what big personalities they both have. How I wish we could get them together. That would be something.

that is impressive that she could get those ponies in her hair by herself at that age! she obviously has some dexterity!

what a great update, and I hear you completely -- just when it seems there may be a sign of balance and re-connection with friends or a clean kitchen, something else crops up -- but yes, in the bottom line, when we finally get our kids to sleep, we can take the time to breathe a prayer of thanks for the wee ones we waited so long for :)We have just, as of last weekend, moved to "Mom" - and i agree w/ Melissa - how did it happen? I miss Mama.. but it is incredible to watch their personalities come out and watch them make "choices" about things like what they'll call us -- regardless what we model for them... She did a fab job on her hair - impressive fine motor skills :) she is a total sweetie -- and the quotes are great!! thanks for sharing your love and life with her with us!

She does a great job with her hair...I know you want time to stand still...I do too (G is getting way too big). But at least that's one less thing you'll have to do, when my 10 year old niece lived here I still have to do her hair...what a pain.
Anyhow, love the update!

Love her moves!!! Roman and Max are the same ... they hear music and they just start shaking the booties ... it's so funny to watch. Some time this spring I became Mom ... it was quiet the surprise ... not even Mommy ... just Mom ... not sure I like it but at least Max still says Mama!!!
