Last day before heading home!

It was raining once again all morning. We had an appointment at the US Embassy to finalize all paperwork in order to bring Kristina into the USA. We met about 5 other families there at the Embassy all with adorable children who are blessed to have found a home.

By 3pm, we were finished and on our way. We went home so Kristina could take a nap but then were on our way to Red Square by 5:45pm. We did lots of walking and took a million shots in front of St. Basil's just trying to get one good one. It was hard -- our little darling became Miss Independent and wanted nothing to do with being held or smiling for a camera...again and again.
We found a supermarket so we'd have milk for Kristina (which she LOVES, even cold!) and then had guests over for a visit --- Amy and Jeff who just adopted Aslan from Kirov!! Amy is an OT in Philadelphia. A mutual special friend and also an OT (bleep, bleep -- Jonie -- bleep, bleep!!) hooked us up when she knew we were going through the process together. We toasted to some wine, adored our new children, and then parted since it got late.

Tonight is our last night and we head home tomorrow. We have a driver picking us up at 11:30am and our Aeroflot flight leaves Moscow at 2:40pm arriving in Los Angeles (direct flight) at 4:50pm. We are so excited about being home and starting our "normal" life.

Thanks for the updates Laura! I've been on the edge of my seat waiting. I will be thinking of you at 4:50 tomorrow, touching down in Cali at last. Olivia and Charlie already talk about Kristina as their friend (I've been showing them your blog), and told them they'll meet her someday.

Have a safe trip HOME.

I am sitting here in tears, which is rare for me. But you have just brought back a flood of memories for me. Being in Moscow seems like forever ago for us but it was only 5 months. Thanks you for your posts. Your daughters is positively beautiful. I love the pic. of her kissing you :) Your friends you met with, from what I can see of their son he favors our son. Our son's birthmom is from Tajikistan. If there son is too, give them my blog (you may not have time and that is soooo okay:) I hope you guys have a wonderful flight home and thanks for allowing me to follow your journey!

Congratulations! The picture of her sleeping on the plane is soooo cute. You all look great as a family - enjoy walking through your door! Living with her in her own home is much easier than all that craziness in Russia. Good luck on that long flight - you will survive it!
