We tried to start things out real slow with mellow activities. Talking (and she's really starting to babble back to us!), coloring with crayons, and looking at books. I was hoping not to ramp her up too much because once she gets into 4th gear, there's no slowing her down! She did understand the words "wait" and "go" as we used it over and over when she was on the slide so we felt we were breaking through to her in some ways.
She's got a bite mark on one arm which looks like one of her peers got hungry. If we wanted to, we could probably I.D. the culprit by matching all the upper and lower teeth marks! But you never know, our little angel may have been the instigator...
One thing we noticed is that K loves to take labels and tape off of everything. There was tape on the little rocking horse in the Playroom and K just skirt! Oops!!!
"We see England, we see France. We see K's Russian underpants!!" :)
Which reminds me...whenever we see K in the afternoon, she's only wearing underpants. I think she's had pull-ups on 3 or 4 times, but usually not. Our coordinator said that it's probably because the Orphanage is probably out of diapers so we should go out and buy them some. Hello??? We just forked over a boatload of moola...and they need more? We'll wait until they ask us as we're not going to offer just at the moment.
Towards the end of our together time, we talked about the importance of tomorrow. We'll be picking up a Social Worker when we're on our way in at 9am who will observe us interacting with K. We pray K will be her playful self and won't challenge us too much. She was quite lovable today giving kisses, calling out Papa, and running into Mama's arms continuously. We even had to reprimand her a few times but everything went great. Oh, please -- let it be a mirror image for tomorrow so the Social Worker has good things to say in Court!!!

Good luck tomorrow... not that you'll need it. You are going to make wonderful parents and I am sure the SW and Judge will quickly recognize that.
DO you think K is potty trained? Please find out their method and tell me... I have a very independent 2 yr old who I would love to PT this summer!

I wouldn't fret too much about the Social Worker coming to visit. We had one come as well. According to our coordinator it is really a formality and they always say good things. Unless you REALLY mess up, you'll be fine. I'll tell you more about it later. Anyway, just enjoy being with her. It sounds like things are going great!

Don't worry about the social worker. They want the best for the kids and that is to be with family. My social worker was a beautiful lady, Svetlana. You are getting to experience some wonderful thing right now. K is bonding and thus making the transition easier on you all. You are fortunate to be able to soak up all things Ekat to tell her later. Ekat holds a very fond place in my heart.
Good luck with Monday's visit! I'm sure it will go just fine.

If K is only wearing underpants, does she have any accidents? Sounds like potty training is right around the corner.
G loves tags...basically anything that he can rip or chew off. Oh boy, he keeps me busy but it's the best!
I love all the update pics!
Hey Laura,
We are back home now with Daniel! We had a great flight home from Moscow with him. Just now catching up on your blog.
Blessings,
Mary and Greg Holt
I'm sure that everything went well today. I can't wait to hear!
i hope your visit went well! :)
when we visited nick he wasn't ever in diapers. they always had him in underwear. he wet his underwear 1x when he was with us. at his orphanage they had all the kids his age schedule potty trained. we were told that this is so the kids weren't left in diapers too long and got sores. i'm sure the expense played into that too. i'm sure they think you are made of money though and can just run out and buy them a ton of diapers.
