One big task completed today: getting the car seat that we got from Aunt Sadie and Bob into Jon's truck. Geez --- took two college graduates over an hour to figure it out! No wonder Babies 'R Us offers free "Child Restraint" classes.
Georgie the Bear is keeping K's carseat warm until she gets home.
This reminds me...I better get Georgie out of Jon's truck before he goes to work and the guys at work see who's in the back seat!
Tomorrow's task at hand is to also finalize the hotel and apartments we'll be staying in when in Ekaterinburg and Moscow. Of course we will be in Moscow the one week the Eurovision Song Contest is being held. Have no idea what it is but Cha-ching!!! All the hotel and apartment costs skyrocket for that one week. Go figure!

Not sure if I've left a comment before . . . but I've been following for awhile. Congrats on your court date! The car seat story made me laugh! Oh, Eurovision is the contest that made ABBA famous when they won it back in the 70's . . . the contest is an annual thing, and a REALLY big deal over here!
It is finally here. I can remember the whirlwind that occured before we left, trying to get everything straightened out. I can tell you we used Lufthansa for our flight and it was great. We did have a layover in Frankfurt but it was short and the little walk actually helped. We flew Aeroflot in RUssia and the plane was so small and cramped. I'd suggest getting Little K her own seat either way. What a life saver that was.

My husband and our neighbor, a Captial Police Captain and another neighbor who works for Homeland Security took 4 hours to get two of our carseats in. I wish I'd had the camera ready!!!
Sounds like you're about set to go. God Bless!
On the trip home: your little one will notice the Russian language, but will likely already be moving on from it and want only you to talk to him/her!
I've been following your blog for a while and just wanted to make a comment. I'm so excited for you that your long wait is almost over! Having the car seat ready in the car was so moving and makes it so real; she's almost there with you! God bless you!
I completely understand making lists. I find that I am even making lists of my lists!
Too funny about the car seat! I hope the last minute details fall in place for you. Won't be long and you will be back with K!!!
Sounds like you've got everything under control. Good luck with all the arrangements... and I'll take any helpful tips for surviving a 12+ hour flight with a little one... that is the one part I am NOT looking forward to!

I couldn't help but laugh about the car seat thing. (Finally, after 9 years and 3 kids, I can actually install a car seat without scraping my knuckles raw or slipping a disc in my back!) Wishing you all much love and speedy fortune.

Laura you will be so happy to have a direct flight home. The seating is a bit cramped on Aeroflot. Maybe you can get bulkhead seats. Happy packing.
I had a car seat in my car for months before Anna came home :)
Those car seats are so tricky. I read a research study that stated that close to 70% of car seats are installed incorrectly. I was shocked. Where I live you can have it installed by a car seat specialist.
I say leave the bear in the seat it is so cute.

I flew Aeroflot NY-Moscow on my firts trip and it was OK. I can't tell you about flying with a toddler yet, but sure it will be a lot of fun.LOL
Hello, Love the teddy bear in the carseat!! I am still waiting for my travel date but think I will be staying at the Park Inn (I think thats the name) so I hope to see you and your little one some time during my trip. Happy packing. beth
Such fun. It's good to be so busy right now otherwise time would just crawl.
GREAT CHOICE on Aeroflot to LA. I've made the trip 4 times - coming home with Katy I went through NY and missed 2 connecting flights because of customs and immigration. Spent the night in the airport with a screaming baby and was re-directed to SLC - it took forever and was excruciating! My 3rd trip, with no kids or immigration, I missed the connection again on Thanksgiving night. I was told then that it is a rarity for anyone to make that connection because there is not enough time. There's only 1 flight per night so I could fly to a different airport or wait another night in NY - NO WAY. I flew to a different airport and drove.
Aeroflot international was great. Nice big plane, very comfortable, good food and gift bag for the kiddos. Lots of fun but we had a lady die on our flight home - YIKES. All other airlines would have turned back but not Aeroflot - they moved on and got us home to LA. It was such a piece of cake in comparison.
I can't wait for more news. . . it's so much fun being on this end of it now! Write lots and often!
car seats are a pain to put in! so exciting that it is time to put it in the car though!
